Sophia, Age 4 | Congenital Heart Defects | Pelham, NY
Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,
We found out that Sophia may have congenital heart defects during an anatomy scan when Christina was just 16 weeks pregnant. Our pediatric cardiologist ordered a fetal echocardiogram, which confirmed that Sophia's right ventricle was severely underdeveloped. She would need a series of three surgeries to essentially bypass the right side of her heart.
We immediately transferred her care over to Maria Fareri Children's Hospital. Sophia was born on September 25, 2013 and had her first open heart surgery at 7 days old. Her second surgery was at 4.5 months of age, and her third--and most likely, last--surgery was in June 2017. Sophia is a happy, healthy 4-year-old today, thanks to the lifesaving care she received at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital. She loves singing, watching Daniel Tiger and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cartoons, and creating with Play-Doh!
We are trying to raise $2,500 to support the thousands of local children, like our daughter Sophia, who receive advanced medical care at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital every year. Please consider making a donation. You can make a difference.
For the kids,
Christina and Paul (Sophia's Parents)
